Gilbert Arenas believes Klay Thompson can remain a major offensive threat when playing alongside Giannis Antetokounmpo, even if the veteran shooter is no longer producing at the level he did during his best seasons.
Arenas pointed to the attention Giannis attracts from opposing defenses, arguing that Thompson should receive plenty of opportunities to take open perimeter shots.
In his view, Thompson does not need to return to his peak form to have a significant impact.
“I know Klay been having some rough years shooting, but a 38% Klay changes the game for Giannis! We used to splash brother Klay. Don’t get it f*cked up! Splash brother Klay was millions of miles away from the next person!
“This is like Vince Carter and MJ at 38. That’s still a 42 inch vertical! Klay with a 38% clip is a very dangerous person shooting wide open shots!”
