The San Antonio Spurs dethroned the Oklahoma City Thunder, 130-110, for the second time in 10 days, while continuing their seventh straight win on Tuesday evening.
Keldon Johnson led the Spurs with 25 points, Stephon Castle with 24, although Victor Wembanyama just finished 12 and ended his streak of having at least one block per game.
On the other hand, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander with 33 points, and Jalen Williams contributed 17 for the Oklahoma.
The Spurs have won 14 of 17 to move into the second seed in the West, while the Thunder has lost three of five games since opening the season 24-1.
The defending champions’ fourth loss this season was far their worst as the previous three were down by two, two, and five points.
Its second loss of the season was also with the same matchup, 111-109 in the NBA Cup semifinal on December 13 in Las Vegas.
The rematch was another tense battle between the top two seeds.
There were 15 lead changes and 13 ties before San Antonio pulled away late in the third quarter.
Wembanyama and Spurs rookie Dylan Harper led the second-half run.
Despite Harper dropping only four points, he had season-highs with five steals and 10 assists, while Wembanyama came off the bench for the sixth straight game after missing 12 consecutive games with a strained left calf.
The Oklahoma will host San Antonio to close a home-and-home set on Thursday.
