Fresh off the conclusion of the 2026 season, oddsmakers have already released their early projections for the 2027 NBA championship race, with the San Antonio Spurs and Oklahoma City Thunder emerging as co-favorites.
Both teams opened with championship odds of +250, placing them ahead of the rest of the league entering the offseason.
The Boston Celtics sit third at +550, while the newly crowned champion New York Knicks are listed fourth at +700 despite capturing the title on Saturday.
After the top four contenders, the odds drop significantly. The Indiana Pacers and Denver Nuggets are next at +2800, followed by the Minnesota Timberwolves, Los Angeles Lakers, Detroit Pistons, and Cleveland Cavaliers at +3000.
Prediction markets show a similar outlook. On Polymarket, the Spurs and Thunder are each given a 22 percent chance of winning the 2027 title. Boston follows at 11 percent, while the Knicks sit at nine percent.
The Miami Heat round out the top group at five percent. The parity that has defined the NBA in recent years remains a major storyline.
The league has crowned eight different champions across the past eight seasons, and that streak would extend to nine if San Antonio captures the title in 2027.
Further down the odds board, the Heat are listed at +4000, the Golden State Warriors at +4500, the Philadelphia 76ers at +5500, and the Houston Rockets at +6000.
Longshot contenders include the Orlando Magic (+8000), Toronto Raptors (+10000), Phoenix Suns (+12000), and Milwaukee Bucks (+25000).
At the bottom of the board are the Memphis Grizzlies (+50000), Chicago Bulls (+70000), and Sacramento Kings (+100000), who enter the offseason as the longest shots to win the 2027 NBA Finals.
