Former NBA champion Isaiah Rider was arrested earlier this month after authorities say he violated a court order, TMZ Sports reports.
Police sources confirm the 54-year-old was taken into custody on December 4 and charged with a single count of interfering with judicial proceedings.
According to court documents, Rider’s wife, Vanessa, had sought a protective order in July 2025.
In her filing, she accused him of multiple aggressive incidents, including moments when she claims he told her, “You’re gonna get your ass slapped,” as well as, “Shut the f*** up before I kick this door down and whoop you.”
She stated the remarks were aimed at both her and her 15-year-old son.
Rider denied the accusations at the time, writing, “I deny the allegations. She did this because I filed for divorce.” Records show he initiated divorce proceedings in November 2024.
Despite his denial, Vanessa was granted the protective order, which prohibited him from contacting her or their son and required him to stay away from their home and the child’s school.
A hearing set for December 17 will determine whether the order should remain in effect.
