An NBA executive told Lakers Daily that he “would be stunned” if Miami Heat president Pat Riley moved Andrew Wiggins to Los Angeles. “You really think Pat wants to help LeBron? He’s still mad about LeBron leaving Miami. I don’t see it happening,” the source added.
The Lakers have explored options to strengthen their roster, and Wiggins has emerged as a potential target. Insider Marc Stein reported that Los Angeles is now more open to absorbing long-term contracts to boost its championship window.
Wiggins, 30, joined the Heat in February as part of a five-team trade that sent Jimmy Butler to Golden State. Since then, he has averaged 19.0 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game while shooting 45.8 percent from the field and 36.0 percent from three.
Los Angeles made major offseason moves, signing Luka Doncic to a three-year, $165 million extension and adding Deandre Ayton, Marcus Smart, and Jake LaRavia. With LeBron James entering the final year of his contract, the Lakers are seeking trades to strengthen their title odds.
The Lakers’ wing rotation includes Austin Reaves, Rui Hachimura, and Dalton Knecht, but Wiggins’ defensive versatility and playoff experience could provide added stability in a competitive Western Conference.
