Pistons sign 4 players

The Detroit Pistons have added four players to their training camp roster, signing center Charles Bediako, forwards Dawson Garcia and John Ukomadu, and wing Brice Williams to non-guaranteed contracts, which are expected to be Exhibit 10 deals.

These agreements allow the players to earn bonuses of up to $85,300 if they are waived by the Pistons and spend at least 60 days with the team’s G League affiliate, the Motor City Cruise.

Bediako, a seven-foot center who went undrafted out of Alabama in 2023, spent the past two seasons in the G League with the Austin Spurs and Grand Rapids Gold.

Last season, he averaged 9.9 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks over 50 games with Grand Rapids, and his returning rights were recently traded to Detroit’s affiliate.

“I’m excited for this opportunity to showcase my skills and continue my growth,” Bediako said.

Garcia, who went undrafted in 2025, played five years of college basketball, including three with Minnesota.

The 6’11” forward averaged 19.2 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 2.0 assists as a super-senior, shooting .474 from the field, .373 from three, and .783 from the free-throw line.

“I want to bring energy and versatility to the team,” Garcia said.

Ukomadu, a 6’7” forward from Eastern Kentucky, spent last season with the Motor City Cruise, shooting 53 percent from the floor and 45.9 percent from three, while averaging 8.2 points and 3.2 rebounds in 20.1 minutes per game.

“I’m looking forward to building on my experience and contributing wherever I can,” Ukomadu said.

Williams, who went undrafted in June and played for Detroit’s Summer League team, averaged 20.4 points, 4.1 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 1.1 steals in his final season at Nebraska, shooting .471/.370/.883.

“I’m ready to compete and show what I can do at the next level,” Williams said.

Since all Pistons two-way roster slots are currently filled, the four players are likely to be waived and assigned to the Motor City Cruise, with Bediako and Ukomadu joining as returning-rights players and Garcia and Williams designated as affiliate players.

Each would be eligible for bonuses if they spend at least 60 days with the Cruise. With these moves, Detroit now maintains a full 21-man offseason roster as it prepares for training camp and the preseason.
