Rookie first overall pick AJ Dybantsa led the Washington Wizards, dominating the Charlotte Hornets 95-79 on Friday night.
Anthony Davis dropped 25 points and 13 rebounds. Trae Young contributed 21 points, nine assists, and seven rebounds, while Dybantsa added 17 in his home debut.
The Wizards held the Hornets to 13 points in the third quarter, cruising to a comfortable victory on the first night of NBA Cup play.
Meanwhile, Dybantsa was not available to start the season because of an ankle injury, but he finally played Wednesday night, scoring 19 points in a loss at Cleveland.
The high-prized rookie looked ready in front of the home fans, showing an impressive performance in the fourth quarter, driving before banking in a shot while being fouled.
Charlotte led by 10 in the first after starting 4 of 10 from three, then made four of their next 29 attempts from long range. They ended up shooting 29.7% from the field for the entire game, 12 of 56 from beyond the arc.
The Hornets are now responsible for the two lowest-scoring games in the NBA this season.
Brandon Miller led Charlotte with 19 points, while Naz Reid added 12 points and 11 rebounds after being benched in the second half at Detroit on Wednesday night.
They played without Kon Knueppel (hamstring) and Coby White (calf) all season so far, and Grant Williams (hamstring) has also been out.
Up next: the Wizards visit Orlando on Monday, while the Hornets host the 76ers on Saturday night.
