Guerschon Yabusele is confident he can bring the right edge to Madison Square Garden. After signing a two-year, $11.7 million deal with the New York Knicks earlier this summer, the French forward made it clear he sees himself as a natural match for the franchise and its fan base.
Speaking to Israeli outlet One during EuroBasket, Yabusele praised the Knicks and emphasized his style of play. “The Knicks are truly a great and magnificent club. I can tell Knicks fans that my DNA is very suitable for them. I bring passion, sometimes also anger, war, and aggression. I can promise them that I will help the team achieve as many victories as possible.”
The 29-year-old forward joins New York after a strong season with the Philadelphia 76ers, where he averaged 11.0 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 2.1 assists across 70 games while shooting 50.1 percent from the field. His versatility on both ends of the floor made him a reliable contributor in Philadelphia’s rotation.
Yabusele previously spent two years with the Boston Celtics before returning to Europe and establishing himself as a standout performer with Real Madrid. His return to the NBA in 2024–25 with Philadelphia was viewed as a successful comeback, showcasing his improved shooting and physical presence.
At EuroBasket, Yabusele has stepped into a leadership role with France, particularly following his strong showing at the Paris Olympics last summer. Despite France’s recent loss to Deni Avdija and Israel, he has been one of the team’s most consistent players.
The Knicks, who are looking to build on their playoff push, will rely on Yabusele’s size and toughness in the frontcourt. With New York aiming to climb higher in the Eastern Conference standings, his ability to stretch the floor and defend multiple positions could prove valuable.
Yabusele stressed that his commitment goes beyond numbers, pointing to the intensity and edge he plans to bring every night. “There is a good team this year, which wants to reach the playoffs. I can definitely help with that task,” he said.
