In a conversation with Mark Medina of Sportskeeda, Miami Heat rookie Kasparas Jakucionis candidly described his time competing in the Las Vegas Summer League as a “work in progress.”
The 19-year-old Lithuanian guard acknowledged that adapting to the pace and style of the NBA game is still a challenge for him.
“I’m adjusting to the game – it’s a little different from what I’ve experienced before,” Jakucionis said. “My focus right now is on controlling the things I can control: giving my full effort on every play and putting extra emphasis on the defensive end. I’m trying to regain my rhythm and find consistency out there.”
Jakucionis also stressed the importance of managing his mindset, especially when it comes to shooting. He noted how critical it is not to get too emotionally affected by whether shots fall or not.
“Basketball is a game full of ups and downs,” he explained. “Some days you miss, other days you make. I’m working on maintaining that balance and not letting the misses get me down or the makes get me too high. It’s about staying steady and continuing to improve.”
Across five Summer League games, the player averaged 8.4 points, 2.4 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 1.4 steals, showing flashes of two-way potential.
