The Miami Heat currently have not just one open standard roster spot but also two available slots for two-way contracts.

Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports that following a disappointing showing in the recent Summer League, the team may hold off on adding another young prospect to the roster right away.

At present, Vladislav Goldin remains the only player signed to a two-way deal with Miami.

Winderman highlights that one of the two-way contract spots is anticipated to be claimed by Dru Smith, who has a qualifying offer from the Heat but is currently sidelined while recovering from an Achilles tendon injury.

Once Smith returns to full health, the team is expected to bring him back onto the roster, filling one of those valuable two-way openings.

This situation suggests the Heat are approaching their roster additions cautiously, balancing the development of young talent with injury recovery timelines and roster flexibility.
