Southwest Airlines playfully mocked the Dallas Mavericks following the team’s stunning decision to part ways with their franchise cornerstone, Luka Doncic.

The five-time All-Star and former face of the Mavericks was dealt to the Los Angeles Lakers in a blockbuster trade early last month, a move that left much of the team’s fan base in shock and disbelief.

In exchange for Doncic and a package of additional players, Dallas acquired Anthony Davis, Max Christie, and a future draft pick.

Using the surprising trade to generate buzz, Southwest Airlines posted a tongue-in-cheek message on Instagram, stating, “It’s not like we traded Luka…”

The remark, clearly referencing the Mavericks’ controversial move, was followed by images highlighting the airline’s recent policy changes regarding baggage fees.

For over 50 years, Southwest has prided itself on allowing passengers to check luggage at no extra cost.

However, the company recently announced a shift in its long-standing policy, revealing that it would begin charging a bag fee starting May 28 – a decision that has sparked backlash from customers.
