Shaquille O’Neal believes Jimmy Butler would thrive with the Golden State Warriors, citing their system as a perfect fit for the Miami Heat star. The NBA legend shared his thoughts on The Big Podcast, suggesting that Butler’s playing style aligns well with Golden State’s emphasis on ball movement and perimeter shooting.

“I would like to see him go to Golden State,” O’Neal said, via HoopsHype. “I like him at Golden State because when he was at Miami, he used to drive me crazy—he’d get all the way to the lane and kick it out for a three. I’m like, ‘Bro, lay the goddamn ball up!’ That would work in Golden State because of the system they play.”

Despite Butler’s reported preference for a trade to the Phoenix Suns, O’Neal’s endorsement of the Warriors raises intriguing possibilities. Golden State’s dynamic offensive scheme, led by Stephen Curry, could amplify Butler’s playmaking and versatility.

Butler, now in his 14th NBA season, is averaging 17.2 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 4.7 assists in 30.8 minutes per game. His ability to drive to the basket, defend multiple positions, and create opportunities for teammates has been pivotal to Miami’s recent success.

However, the Heat have struggled to find a trade partner that meets their demands for the 35-year-old forward.
