Iran national team coach Dirk Bauermann has returned for a second spell at Russian side Krasny Oktyabr, the club have announced.

He is expected to stay on as the head coach of Iran as they prepare for next summer’s Olympic Qualifying Tournament.

Bauermann returns to the Eurocup side having coached them last season. His tenure though wasn’t highly memorable, as Krasny Oktyabr finished their VTB League season with a 9-21 record, which denied them a playoff spot.

The 57-year-old has had stints domestically with Lietuvos Rytas, Bayern Munich and Brose Baskets, where he won two Beko BBL titles with the latter, as well international roles with Germany and Poland.
