Dirk Bauermann parted ways with Lietuvos Rytas after his team failed to qualify for Euroleague Top 16 with two games left to play.

The German coach has led Rytas to a rather surprising qualification for Euroleague and even won the opener against Panathinaikos before losing seven times in a row – a result that meant Rytas’ elimination after the first round.

“We want to thank him and wish him the best. He brought our team to LKL final last season, also won Euroleague qualification tournament. But recent results were not so good”, – said Lietuvos rytas president Gedvydas Vainauskas to the club’s official website.

Assistan coach Dainius Adomaitis was promoted as an interim coach. The club is already looking for a replacement head coach.

Bauermann joined Rytas in early of 2013. It was arguably highest profile team he has coached so far.
