Philadelphia 76ers star guard Tyrese Maxey talked about his mindset during the beginning of games after Friday’s 124-109 road win vs. the Orlando Magic (32 points/3 rebounds/5 assists/3 steals/1 block/10-20 FG/4-10 3-PT/8-9 FT/+17 +/-).

Alaa Abdelnaby: “Speak to us about your mindset, because we’ve seen you now a number of times this year start off the game, others get involved, you’re not really hunting for your shots or anything. But as the game goes on, you seem to kind of wake up offensively. Tell me about your mindset in that first quarter, and then as the game goes on?”
Maxey: “I have the ultimate confidence in myself as far as my scoring abilities. So at the beginning of the game, I always try to get my teammates involved, get big fella (Joel Embiid) going, get Tobias [Harris] going, get Kelly [Oubre] some shots, and Nico [Batum]. They do a great job, a hell of a job defensively hounding guys and just pressuring guys. We need them to do that, so always gotta feed them, always gotta feed them and make sure they’re great. And then when I come back in with the second unit in the second quarter, I try to make plays for myself and others as well.”
