After a brief stay, Bryan Gates will leave the Dallas Mavericks to join the Philadelphia 76ers coaching staff, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Gates was allowed by the Mavericks to leave as the assistant will leave for a much better role and opportunity at the side of new Sixers head coach Nick Nurse.

Gates has been an NBA assistant for the last 13 years. He previously served for Monty Williams and the Phoenix Suns in the last two seasons.

Nurse, who took over as Philly’s new coach after the franchise dismissed Doc Rivers this offseason, already has Bobby Jackson and Rico Hines as his assistants.
