NBA insider Shams Charania reported that the Mavericks are seriously considering shutting down Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving for the remaining three games of the season.

The reason behind such thinking is that Dallas has small chances of making the play-in tournament. With 37 wins and 42 losses, the Mavs are eleventh in the West.

They are a game behind Thunder, but OKC has the tiebreaker. So even if Dallas has the same record as Oklahoma City, it would be the latter that would take a higher spot.

However, while there are still chances to reach the postseason, Doncic is prepared to play.

“I’m playing tomorrow. When there’s still a chance, I’m going to play,” the Slovenian superstar said about the coming game against the Kings, via Tim MacMahon.
