Over the last decade the Warriors have become synonymous with three names – Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green.

It is hard to imagine any of these players who helped Golden State win four NBA championships suiting up for another team, but that is not entirely impossible.

There have been rumors for a while now suggesting that Green may leave the Dubs for the Lakers or Pistons.

Unlike him, Thompson has not been included in speculations. That does not mean his spot on the roster is locked.

The 32-year-old shooting has one more year left on a five-year contract. The final year is a player option. This season he is set to earn $40 million.

If Thompson picks up his player option, he will earn $43 million next season. Should he leave the Warriors, there are two teams that could be the favorites to land him.

“He could consider it,” a Western Conference executive said. “You know, he grew up with his dad as a player, mostly for the Lakers, so they’re a team he could look to leave for. And he grew up near Portland, so the Blazers, there has been talk he wants to play for them. But really, he is kind of engrained in the Warriors now. He is such a part of that team and the culture, everything he went through with the injuries, and just his whole laid-back attitude and approach. They love him. It would be hard to imagine him actually suiting up in another uniform.”

This season Thompson is averaging 18.3 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.4 assists in 31.2 minutes per game.
