Gary Payton II will miss the initial parts of the 2022-23 season for the Portland Trail Blazers.
Per Blazers’ release, Payton continues to recover from an off-season procedure to address a core muscle injury. Though he is showing good signs of progress, the veteran guard still needs to be shelved.
As such, his availability to play will be determined in two weeks upon re-evaluation.
Following a championship run with the Golden State Warriors, Payton II earned himself a contract from Portland. He inked a three-year, $26.1 million deal with the ball club last offseason.
