The Lakers are one of those teams that are always expected to compete for a championship. After winning the franchise’s 17th championship in 2020, the purple and gold had two disappointing years.

Last season was especially disappointing as the team failed to even make the play-in tournament. According to Anthony Davis, this season the Lakers are underdogs. The 29-year-old forward thinks that not being talked about is good for his team.

“We’re treating this season like we have a chip on our shoulder. We’re the underdogs,” Davis told ESPN during the team’s annual media day on Monday. “Obviously, the world is looking to see what we do. But … they’re not talking about us, and that’s fine. You know, we’d rather be under the radar.”
