On Monday the Toronto Raptors suffered a loss against the Philadelphia 76ers (112-97) in Game 2 of the first round series. This evoked a reaction of the Raptors guard Fred VanVleet.
The 28-year-old shooting guard, who made is first NBA All-Star Game appearance this year, blamed not his teammates but himself for poor performance.
“This is that time of year,” VanVleet, who scored 20 points in Game 2, said per Josh Lewenberg. “It’s a great challenge for all of us in our young career to step up. This is a platform where you want to go from good to great, and I’ll speak for myself, I didn’t answer that call tonight.”
“This is not on the bench, it’s on myself to be better. I’m always going to take responsibility for my performance and we didn’t get the win so put the blame on me.”
