Raptors provide new update on Kawhi Leonard’s knee

Kawhi Leonard has completed treatment for swelling in his left knee and will begin the return-to-play process in Toronto, the Raptors announced Tuesday, November 3.

The Raptors said they would provide another update on Leonard’s progress in one week. The announcement did not include a timetable for his return to game action.

Leonard initially faced an absence of multiple weeks after developing left knee swelling. An MRI revealed no structural damage, but Toronto planned to give him time to rest before gradually increasing his basketball activities, according to the October 26 update.

The 35-year-old has appeared in two games this season, averaging 19.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 26 minutes. He is shooting 32.4% from the field and 28.6% from three-point range.

Toronto has started the 2026-27 campaign 4-3, with Scottie Barnes and RJ Barrett leading the scoring. Barnes is averaging 24.4 points, 7.9 rebounds and 5.0 assists through seven games, while Barrett has posted 20.7 points and 6.1 rebounds.

Immanuel Quickley is contributing 18.0 points and 5.6 assists per game. Leonard’s return would add another established scorer to a rotation in which three players are averaging at least 18 points.

Leonard returned to Toronto during the offseason after being traded from the Los Angeles Clippers. He subsequently signed a two-year, $115 million contract extension with the Raptors in September.

The forward played 65 games last season and earned All-NBA honors. Toronto’s next update on his recovery is scheduled for Tuesday, November 10.
