The Euroleague Top 16 game between ALBA Berlin and Galatasaray was marred by crowd trouble just minutes before the game was due to tip.

With both teams warming up at the 02 World Arena, and 25 minutes before the start, a flock of supporters with Galatasaray football shirts attempted to attack ALBA Berlin supporters with Police looking to restore order.

Then in a simply shocking turn of events, supporters on both sides directed their attention to the Police and began fighting with them.

The game was delayed for 30 minutes.

Supporters were seen leaving the arena, once order was restored. It is unclear how many arrests were made.

“I was just sitting down in the upper tier when this all occurred, and I could not believe my eyes,” said an ALBA Berlin fan who contacted me via Twitter’s direct message and wished to be kept anonymous.

“The people at the heart of the madness all had Galatasaray shirts on, not basketball vests, football shirts. I saw fans leaving about 15 minutes after it all started.

“It brings shame to the Euroleague that they can’t seem to control supporters like these. It happens every year without fail.”

ALBA Berlin won the game 75-68.
