LeBron James wants to see the Los Angeles Lakers get better day after day, as they aim to defend their title this season.

James said the season is not a sprint for the defending champions and called the Lakers ‘a marathon team’.

“Just listen to it. My body will tell me where I am…That’s what it’s about. We’re a marathon team. We understand we’re not in a sprint, but we want to get better every day,” James told reporters, via Ryan Ward of Lakers Daily.

The Lakers made some excellent offseason moves and bolstered their roster by adding Marc Gasol, Dennis Schroder, Montrezl Harrell and Wesley Matthews.

As a result, they are considered the favorite to repeat, not only by NBA people, but (by) the top sportsbooks too.

Thanks to their offseason moves, the Lakers have strengthened their favorite position, now at odds of +270 to go back-to-back as champions, according to Sports Betting Dime.

James and the Lakers ended preseason in a perfect way (4-0) and now have their sights set on the season opener vs the Clippers on Tuesday (22/12).
