David Blatt led Cleveland Cavaliers to the NBA Finals in his first season and nearly became the first coach to win the EuroLeague title and NBA crown in back-to-back seasons.

Yep, the gossip had a day off yesterday, but it’s back.

David Blatt made his coaching debut for the Cavaliers last night, and also LeBron James officially started his second spell back home after four seasons with Miami. But for Blatt, facing his old club Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv, the first game could be his biggest.

BLATT NERVOUS AHEAD OF MACCABI REUNION

LeBron James said coach David Blatt was going to be nervous in his first game in charge of an NBA team. Blatt himself admitted it too. But not because it was his first game. James and Blatt explained the reasons.

Via ESPN:

For Blatt, the matchup with Maccabi, a club he coached for six seasons and led to several championships, was a challenge from the start.

“I was nervous before the game, but not because it was the first time I coached in the NBA,” he said. “I was playing against my friends.”

Following the game, Blatt hugged his former players and Maccabi’s coaching staff, a group he considers his “brothers.”

James, who rested his “iffy” back as a precaution, sensed how much the game meant to Blatt.

“He was very nervous, excited, uptight — and rightfully so,” James said. “He has a lot of ties to that team, a lot of ties to that community, that city, that country and his first real game is against his former team. So I don’t know how much he slept last night.”

Speaking of James, as he’s back in Cleveland, he won’t be needing this anymore.

BIG BABY LOSSES 20 POUNDS

There’s no bounce in his step, he moves around the court lighter and he feel like a new man. Glen Davis has shed some weight and feels great, according to Los Angeles Clippers coach Doc Rivers.

Via the OC Register:

Glen Davis has impressed Rivers with his conditioning, though it might not look like he’s lost much weight. “It’s like throwing a deck chair off the Queen Mary,” Rivers joked. “Nobody notices, but I notice. He’s put in a ton of work.” Davis said he lost more than 20 pounds over the summer.

Good for you, Glen.
