Cleveland Cavaliers have fired former Euroleague championship-winning coach David Blatt, it has been revealed.

Blatt joined the Cavaliers in the summer of 2014 after guiding Maccabi Tel Aviv to the Euroleague title in Milan.

Coaching such talent as LeBron James, Kevin Love and Kyrie Irving The American-Israeli play caller led the Cavs to last season’s NBA Finals, in his first season as head coach and missed out on being the first basketball coach to win a Euroleague title and an NBA crown in back-to-back seasons.

And at this time, Cleveland comfortably lead the Eastern Conference, 3.5 games ahead of second-placed Toronto with a 30-11 record.

But despite the success, Blatt’s relationship with LeBron James during tenure as Cleveland head coach has always come under criticism with reports that James never took his coach seriously and that he wanted Blatt out and assistant coach Tyrone Lue promoted.

Conveniently, Yahoo! Sports have reported that Lue has been named as the Cavs new head coach, which will ask a lot of questions about whether James had a say in Blatt’s sacking.

But Blatt, who exits Ohio with an 83-40 record and a 14-6 mark in last spring’s playoffs remained upbeat in a statement released shortly after his firing.
