LaVar Ball, whose youngest son LaMelo was drafted as the third overall pick by the Charlotte Hornets, shared his thoughts on the GOAT debate. According to him, what matters in such debates is who had the best record in the Finals and the role that the player had in those wins.

Based on such criteria, LaVar thinks that Michael Jordan, who was 6-0 in the NBA Finals while being the main guy on the team, is the only GOAT. Though he thinks that MJ’s record will be overtaken by his sons.

“The greatest of all time. How do you measure that? You measure that by your victories and what you did in those victories. I ain’t taking about you got 12 rings and you’ve been on five different teams. I’m talking about a dude who went to the Finals who was the main guy six times in a row,” LaVar told Shannon Sharpe on Club Shay Shay.

“When you have losses on your record, you can’t be the greatest of all time. That dude ain’t got no losses in the Finals. So it’s always going to be Michael Jordan until my boys succeed that, which is going to happen,” Ball concluded.

LaVar will have a chance to interact with Jordan as the Hornets are owned by the six-time NBA champion. Father Ball has previously said he would beat MJ one-on-one.
