The Philadelphia 76ers are expected to be interested in and pursue Houston Rockets star James Harden, according to Shams Charania.

Daryl Morey, who was recently hired by the 76ers as the president of basketball operations, has a history with Harden from their time spent together with the Rockets.

Other teams are also expected to express interest in Harden, but the Rockets aren’t interested.

“As of right now, it’s an emphatic no from the Rockets’ side,” Charania notes. “It’s really a non-starter for that organization. … Morey though, has a history of being active on the trade market, pursuing the different opportunities that may exist out there and I wouldn’t expect it to be any different now that he’s in Philadelphia.”

Harden can become a free agent after the 2021-2022 NBA season, as he has a player option for the 2022-2023 season worth approximately $47.4 million.
