Several teams monitoring the free agent market expect the Brooklyn Nets to decline the $5 million team option on Garrett Temple for 2020-2021.

However, things can always change from now until the date the Nets have to make the decision, which is some time later this month, according to Ian Begley of SNY.tv.

If the Nets ultimately decide to decline Temple’s option, the veteran will have suitors during free agency.

The New York Knicks could be one of the teams interested, as Temple is someone who could help a team build winning habits, Begley notes.

The 34-year-old’s presence would be helpful for the Knicks’ younger players and they have the cap space to sign him if they wanted.

In 62 regular season games this season, Temple averaged a career-high 10.3 points and 3.5 rebounds per game along with 2.5 assists per game.

Temple has played for nine teams in his 10-year NBA career and the next team he could join this offseason will be his 10th.

The NBA and NBPA have still yet to make a decision on a start date for free agency.
