Worcester Wolves are top of the BBL table for Christmas after thrashing the London Lions 93-64 for their fourth straight win of the season at the University of Worcester Arena.

Will Creekmore led the Wolves with 20 points as they handed the Lions their heaviest defeat of the season. They have now lost two in a row as they drop to fifth place.

Kramer Knutson led the Lions with 17 points.

Leicester Riders are still hanging around though after they shook off a sub-par first half to win away at the Plymouth Raiders 91-82.

Jay Couisnard led the BBL champions with 21 points as they turned on the style in the second half to record the win in the south-west.  Anthony Downing added 17 in victory as the Riders remain in second.

Trevor Setty had 20 for Plymouth.

Newcastle Eagles will enter the post-Christmas schedule third after an easy 111-75 win against basement side Birmingham Knights on Friday who are yet to win their first game as a BBL franchise.

This is the Eagles’ third win of the season as they raced to a 56-38 lead at half-time and never looked back. Darius Defoe had 21 points for the winners with Paul Gause, Malik Cooke and Scott Martin all supporting with 20 points.

Charles Smith also gets mention with a sublime double-double of 13 points and 12 assists. Emile Hopkins led the Knights, with a career high 20 points.

It unfortunately didn’t get any better for the Knights, as they were edged 89-79 on Saturday night by the Manchester Giants.

Rob Marsden led the Giants with 18, while Brent Benson scored a game-high 22 for the Knights.

The other games in the last weekend before the mini Christmas break saw Sheffield Sharks lose ground at the top following a 77-72 loss at home to the Glasgow Rocks.

Sterling Davis rolled back the years in a rare scoring performance by leading the Scottish side with 24 points, and shooting 73 percent from the field.

Cheshire Phoenix secured the head-to-head series over the Durham Wildcats after a 99-88 win in the north-east.

Reggie Middleton led all scorers with 30 points for the victorious Phoenix side.
