Jonas Kazlauskas to make the first cut from the preliminary squad of Lithuanian national team leaving 14 players competing for 12 final spots.

Martynas Gecevicius will not be travelling to Slovenia and will join his new team Lietuvos Rytas instead. The 25-year-old guard hasn’t enjoyed much playing time during the preparation games and was among the favourite to be cut.

It was the third time that Gecevicius was called to the training camp and second time that he wasn’t included in the final roster. His only appearance in an official tournament was back 2010. Though he hasn’t played much then either.

So far Lithuania won all of its warm-up games with latest being a narrow 78-76 win against Finland in Vilnius. The final result as well as the game itself was received as an alarm sign by many but the team remains calm and hopes to further improve the game later tonight against Russia.
