Danilo Gallinari has declared himself available to play for Italy at Eurobasket this summer in Slovenia.
Italy coach Simone Piangiani and Italian Basketball President Giovanni Petrucci travelled to Chicago to meet with Gallinari, who was in town with the Denver Nuggets and the forward, who led the Azzuri in the qualification stage with an average of 15 points and six rebounds was pleased with the post-game meeting.
“It was a very nice meeting with Simone and the new president,” the Nuggets small forward told a Gazzetta dello Sport reporter at United Center after his team’s 119-118 win.
We spoke a bit about everything, obviously we spoke about the national team and next summer, and they asked me about my availability,” Gallinari explained.
“[I told them that] my availability for the Eurobasket is there.”
For his Italian counterpart and Chicago Bulls guard Marco Bellinelli, he isn’t focused on the national side just yet. More on helping the Bulls finish the season as strong as possible.
“We will have dinner and a friendly chat,” the Bulls guard told the same reporter in non-committal fashion.
“I don’t have the national team on my mind right now, I don’t mean it in a negative way, it’s just that now I am focused here (on Chicago) and getting as many wins as possible and the Playoffs.”
