With more voices claiming Jayson Tatum is turning into superstar or that he has entered the MVP conversation, sports analyst Nick Wright has a different opinion.

In an episode of First Things First, Wright divided the NBA stars in three tiers:

  • LeBron Tier which includes LeBron James, Giannis Antetotkounmpo, James Harden, Kawhi Leonard, Antony Davis, Kevin Durant and Steph Curry
  • Russ Tier: Joel Embiid, Paul George, Damian Lillard, Klay Thompson, Nikola Jokić, Russell Westrbook, Luka Doncic, Zion Williamson
  • Tatum Tier: Jaysol Tatum, Pascal Siakam, Jimmy Butler, Bradley Beal, Kyrie Irving, Khris Middleton, Donovan Mitchell, C.J. McCollum, Trae Young, Chris Paul, Karl-Anthony Towns, Ben Simmons

Wright explained the ranking with a tweet addressed to the Celtics fans who believe the 21-year-old forward is a star.

“Celtics fans: Take a deep breath. This is why I said “Tatum isn’t a star”. There’s 15 guys in the league clearly better than him, another dozen right there with him. There aren’t 20 “stars” in the league,” Wright tweeted.

Tatum is averaging 30.3 points and 7.2 rebounds over the last ten games. In his most recent outing, the Celtics dropped 33 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, helping the Celtics win over the Jazz, 114-103.
