The Los Angeles Lakers big man JaVale McGee, who signed to a two-year, $8.2 million deal with a player option this offseason, says he expects to be the Lakers’ starting center in the upcoming season:

“I started last year, so I wouldn’t expect anything less. But it’s definitely not up to me, it’s up to the coach, but I don’t plan on showing him anything other than that I’m the starting center for the Lakers,” McGee told Mike Bresnahan of Spectrum SportsNet.

This past season, the 31-year-old averaged 12.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.0 blocks and 0.7 assists per game.
