Anderson Varejao was tremendous (22 points, nine rebounds) and helped Brazil make a come-back and stun Greece in a late thriller (79-78).

The Brazilians were down by 17 in the first half (23-40), but turned things around in the second half, thanks to a 26-13 in the third quarter (56-53).

Varejao and Leandro Barbosa scored crucial points in the final seconds (79-76), yet Kostas Sloukas had the chance to tie the game and force an overtime. However, the Greek guard missed one of the three free throws and Brazil sealed the deal.

Aside from Varejao, Marquinhos Sousa had 15 points for the winners, with Alex Garcia and Barbosa adding 13 points apiece.

Giorgos Printezis and Nick Calathes were the best players of the losing squad, with 20 and 16 points, respectively. Giannis Antetokounmpo posted 13.

Brazil advanced to the Round of 16, whereas the winner of the match between Greece and New Zealand will make it to the second round.
