Creon Raftopoulos has strengthened his Guildford Heat squad with the signing of American centre, James Porter.
The 6’10” player joins from North Carolina A&T Aggies where he developed a reputation for grabbing offensive rebounds and being a tough inside player with strong defense skills.
According to head coach, Creon Raftopoulos, “We have some big scorers in our team and James has the skills I was looking for to balance the squad. He is a ‘hard-nosed’ centre, who has demonstrated excellence in defense, blockshots and rebounds. He is a great passer, too, with an incredible 7′ 5” wingspan. I have no doubt that he will be a huge asset to the team.”
James Porter commented, “Joining the Guildford Heat is a fantastic opportunity for me. I ‘live and breathe’ basketball and will work extremely hard to play to the best of my ability at all times. I’m looking forward to joining the squad and playing a role in the local community as well as making my mark as a key player in the BBL team. “
Porter will join the team in time for the first BBL home game against Worthing Thunder on 25 September at 7.00pm. For further information or to book tickets, visit www.guildfordheat.com.
