TalkBasket.net spoke with Zalgiris Kaunas point guard, Leo Westermann, after the Lithuanians’ victory over Panathinaikos (83-87).
Here is what the French player said:
On the win over the “Greens”: “It was a tough game, but we controlled it and had a very good first half. We knew Panathinaikos would come back, but we were strong enough to take the victory here. We played solid and it was a big victory on the road.”
On what were the keys to the triumph over Panathinaikos: “We prepared well, we knew we would have a very good chance to win the game, if we sticked to our game plan. We made few mistakes and we were very solid and focused.”
On whether Zalgiris Kaunas can play even better as the season goes on: “For sure. Some key players (Kevin Pangos, Vasilije Micic) left the club last year, so we are still a new team. We keep running up, though, and I see a lot of talent and potential in the squad. I think we have a great future.”
