Bayern Munich announced today the acquisition of Derrick Williams for the upcoming season.

The 27-year-old forward, who was the No.2 pick in the 2011 NBA Draft, has played in 428 NBA games, averaging 8.9 points and four rebounds.

“Derrick Williams is not a substitute for our injured power forward (Milan Macvan). Derrick’s enormous talent is obvious and it would be crazy to say that he has convinced us with his quality. We are just delighted with the opportunity to work with such a good player,” said the team’s sporting director, Daniele Baiesi.
