Former Miami Heat forward Udonis Haslem revealed that one of the biggest challenges of retirement has been dealing with people who fail to make payments on time.
Haslem, who spent his entire 20-year NBA career with Miami, explained that receiving his salary was never a concern during his playing days.
However, his experience with payments has been different since leaving the league.
Asked about the most unexpected downside of retirement, Haslem pointed to the difficulties of collecting money.
“People don’t pay on time. When I was with the Miami Heat, I knew if on the first and the 15th… I knew it was coming,” the former player said.
During his NBA career, Haslem could rely on receiving his paychecks on a regular schedule.
Since retiring, he has found that payments outside the league are not always as predictable.
“Now we on this side. We got to chase people down for our money. That’s why I got my business manager right here. We got to chase people down for our money. We’ll knock on your door now.”
