Jordan Goodwin is set to remain in Phoenix after agreeing to a new three-year contract worth $19 million, according to ESPN sources.
The deal includes a player option for the final season, allowing the 27-year-old guard to re-enter free agency before the contract fully expires if he chooses.
The new agreement represents a major reward for a player whose place on the roster was far from guaranteed less than a year ago.
Goodwin entered training camp fighting for a spot after signing a non-guaranteed deal, but his relentless defensive effort, toughness, and energy quickly earned the trust of the coaching staff.
By the end of the season, he had become one of the Suns’ most dependable rotation players and a valued locker-room presence.
His production backed up that reputation. Goodwin contributed 8.7 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game while establishing himself as one of the club’s most disruptive defenders.
His 106 steals led the team, highlighting the impact he made through hustle plays, ball pressure, and defensive versatility.
Phoenix’s decision to invest in Goodwin continues a clear offseason trend.
After also reaching a multiyear deal with guard Collin Gillespie, the organization is showing confidence in younger players it has helped develop internally over the past season.
Rather than making sweeping changes, the Suns appear focused on retaining contributors who have already proven they fit the team’s culture and system.
The contract was finalized by Goodwin’s representatives, Shy Saee and Mike George of Klutch Sports, shortly after the NBA’s negotiating period opened for players discussing new contracts with their current teams.
With Goodwin’s future now secured and Gillespie also under contract, Phoenix can turn its attention to another important offseason priority: restricted free agent Mark Williams.
Resolving Williams’ situation could be one of the franchise’s next key moves as it continues shaping its roster for the upcoming campaign.
In consecutive days, the Suns land multiyear agreements to keep two young guards in Goodwin and Collin Gillespie whom the franchise developed over the last year.
