The draw for Eurobasket 2017 will take place in Turkey on Tuesday November 22 of this year, basketball’s governing body, FIBA announced today.

The Draw for Europe’s premier basketball competition, which will be played out in Cluj-Napoca (Romania); Helsinki (Finland); Istanbul (Turkey); and Tel Aviv (Israel) from 31 August to 17 September 2017, sees Europe’s elite 24 men’s teams divided into four groups.

Turkey were granted the honour of hosting the draw owing to Istanbul hosting the final round, in addition to one of the four group stages.

Despite recent political unrest in Turkey, FIBA has full faith in hosting next year’s Eurobasket 2017 in the country which has a proud heritage in organising top-level FIBA events, such as the world championships (now World Cup) in 2010 and the world championships for women in 2014.
