The Miami Heat are promoting Jahmir Young from his two-way deal to a standard contract, according to Tim Reynolds of The Associated Press.
Young is expected to receive a two-year agreement, his agent Scott Nichols told ESPN’s Shams Charania.
The 6-foot point guard, who went undrafted in 2024, has had limited NBA minutes in his second season, appearing in 13 games, including Friday’s win over Washington, and logging just 55 total minutes with Miami.
Despite the small role at the NBA level, Young has performed well in the G League with the Sioux Falls Skyforce, earning the opportunity for a promotion.
Miami was able to open a roster spot earlier Friday by waiving Terry Rozier, who had been away from the team for most of the season following his arrest on federal gambling charges.
Young has played 2 seasons for the Heat and Bulls. He has averaged 4.5 minutes in 19 regular-season games.
