The Miami Heat have agreed to a deal with guard Jahmir Young, according to a report from NBA insider Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.
Young, 24, is expected to compete for one of Miami’s two-way contract spots heading into the 2025–26 season. He split last year between the Grand Rapids Gold and Windy City Bulls in the G League, while also making a brief NBA appearance with the Chicago Bulls.
In six NBA games with Chicago, Young averaged 1.8 points and 1.0 assist in limited minutes. He made his debut on March 4, 2025, against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
The majority of his production came in the G League, where he played 43 games last season. He averaged 21.7 points, 7.0 assists, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.9 steals per game.
Young spent most of the year with Grand Rapids, where he scored 22.4 points per game while shooting 47.6 percent from the field. After joining Windy City, he added 20.0 points per contest and improved his three-point shooting to 39.7 percent.
Young also impressed in the 2025 Summer League, averaging 13.0 points on 52.3 percent shooting and 53.3 percent from beyond the arc over five games. He added 4.2 assists per contest, showing his ability to run an offense in a shorter role.
The Charlotte native went undrafted in 2024 but began his professional career by joining the Denver Nuggets’ Summer League roster. He later signed with Denver before being waived, then caught on with Grand Rapids in the G League.
His performance earned him a two-way contract with the Bulls in February 2025. Despite being waived in July, he quickly drew attention for his scoring ability and playmaking.
Two-way contracts allow players to split time between the NBA and its G League affiliate. If Young secures the spot, he will likely spend time with the Sioux Falls Skyforce while also being eligible to play limited games for Miami.
Training camp in October will determine his chances of sticking with the roster. His ability to generate offense and create for teammates will be key in earning a place in Miami’s system.
