The NBA investigation has focused in part on Steve Ballmer’s connection to Aspiration, where he invested $50 million in 2021 – the same period the Los Angeles Clippers partnered with the company and Kawhi Leonard later signed his endorsement deal.

Clippers owner has maintained that his involvement was limited.

“We just can’t be involved,” Ballmer said. “We made an introduction.”

Ballmer’s role remains a key element of the league’s ongoing review as it examines whether the arrangement had any ties to potential salary cap circumvention.
