Dalano Banton, who signed a 10-day contract with the Celtics on Thursday, expressed appreciation for the opportunity to return to Boston, according to Adam Himmelsbach and Gary Washburn of The Boston Globe (subscription required).
The guard previously joined the Celtics ahead of the 2023/24 season before being traded to Toronto at the deadline, making this latest stint with the team a familiar reunion.
Banton said the transition back has felt natural thanks to the relationships he built during his earlier time with the organization, noting that he stayed connected with several members of the team and staff even after leaving.
“Definitely grateful for the opportunity,” he said.
“A lot of familiar faces here. I had a good short time here. That relationship still lasts. Kept in touch with a lot of the organization, a lot of staff while I was away. I feel like I had a good time here and building relationships with people go a long way and I’m grateful for them to bring me back.”
For most of this year, Banton has been competing in the G League with the Texas Legends, where he has put together strong performances.
Across 32 games, the 6-foot-8 guard has averaged 24.1 points, 4.1 rebounds, 6.5 assists, and 1.1 steals per game.
