The Boston Celtics have agreed to a two-year contract with guard Dalano Banton, according to NBA insider Michael Scotto on Saturday, April 11.
Scotto reported that league sources confirmed the agreement and noted the deal was negotiated by Aaron Turner of Verus Team. Banton returns to Boston after brief tenures earlier in the 2025-26 campaign.
Banton has averaged 6.7 points in 14.3 minutes per game across five NBA seasons with the Toronto Raptors, Portland Trail Blazers, Los Angeles Clippers, and Celtics.
His 2025-26 season featured a series of short-term stops, including an Exhibit 10 deal with the Dallas Mavericks on October 7, 2025, followed by a waiver on October 17. He later joined the Texas Legends in the G League.
The guard’s path back to the NBA continued in February 2026, when he signed a 10-day contract with the Los Angeles Clippers. In two appearances, he averaged 3.0 points, 0.5 rebounds, and 1.0 assists.
Banton then returned to Boston on February 19, signing another 10-day contract. He played five games during that stint before not receiving a second 10-day deal and rejoining the Texas Legends.
Across his limited 2025-26 NBA sample, Banton appeared in eight total games split between the Clippers and Celtics.
The Celtics enter the final stretch of the season positioned second in the Eastern Conference at 55-26, maintaining a strong playoff seed while continuing to evaluate back-end rotation pieces.
