The Dallas Mavericks waived Dalano Banton, Jeremiah Robinson-Earl, and Dennis Smith Jr., NBA insider Marc Stein reported.

Banton and Robinson-Earl’s G League rights remain with the Texas Legends, while Dallas continues talks with Milwaukee to acquire Smith’s G League rights from the Wisconsin Herd.

Banton, 25, joined Dallas in October after spending the 2024–25 season with Portland, where he averaged 8.3 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 2.4 assists over 67 games.

Robinson-Earl previously played 66 games for New Orleans, averaging 6.3 points and 4.8 rebounds. He had agreed to a training camp deal with Dallas, aiming to compete for a rotation spot, but the Mavericks opted to waive him as the frontcourt depth chart solidified.

Smith Jr., 27, had returned to Dallas after signing a one-year contract in September. Selected No. 9 overall by the Mavericks in the 2017 NBA Draft, Smith brought experience and defensive intensity to a backcourt that includes Kyrie Irving, D’Angelo Russell, and Jaden Hardy.

Smith averaged 6.6 points, 3.6 assists, and 1.2 steals in 56 games with Brooklyn during the 2023–24 season. He also had brief stints with the Wisconsin Herd and Real Madrid in 2025 before rejoining the NBA. The Mavericks are negotiating his G League rights to keep development options flexible.
