Kristaps Porzingis has not yet made his on-court debut for the Golden State Warriors as he continues to deal with Achilles tendinitis, along with a recent illness.

According to ESPN’s Anthony Slater (Twitter video link), head coach Steve Kerr is optimistic that the All-Star break will provide Porzingis with valuable recovery time and allow him to return in better physical condition once play resumes.

“Kristaps played today and was moving better than yesterday and seemed to be in a good rhythm,” Kerr said on Wednesday night, noting that the big man participated in half-court five-on-five action during practice.

The session marked a positive step forward in the big man’s progress as he works toward full availability.

Although there has been speculation that Porzingis could be ready for Golden State’s first game following the All-Star break, Kerr stopped short of confirming any timeline for his return.

“We’ll just see how it plays out,” he said, emphasizing that the team will continue monitoring Porzingis’ recovery before making a final decision.

The center has played 10 seasons for 5 teams, including the Mavericks and Knicks. He has averaged 19.6 points and 7.7 rebounds in 518 regular-season games.

He was selected to play in 1 All-Star game, and has won 1 NBA championship.
