David Kelly has been unanimously chosen as the next Executive Director of the NBA Players Association by the Board of Player Representatives, according to Ian Begley of SNY.

Kelly is set to succeed former NBA player Andre Iguodala, whose term in the role is scheduled to conclude in July.

Currently, Kelly serves as the NBPA’s Managing Director and General Counsel, and he has also worked closely with Iguodala as a trusted advisor during his leadership tenure.

In league-related developments, the NBA’s Board of Governors could potentially hold a vote on expansion later this summer, as reported by ESPN’s Shams Charania and the Dallas Morning News’ Brad Townsend.

Charania noted that the league’s upcoming spring meeting is expected to play a significant role in helping stakeholders gain a clearer understanding of the various issues and considerations tied to expansion.

While some members of the Board of Governors had hoped to conduct a vote during the spring meetings, Townsend reported that discussions have been postponed until the summer to allow additional time for research, evaluation, and internal debate.

Seattle and Las Vegas have consistently been viewed as the leading cities under consideration for potential expansion franchises.
