Indiana Pacers center Isaiah Jackson returned to the court Saturday after being sidelined for nearly a month, and he opened up about just how serious his concussion symptoms were in a conversation with Dustin Dopirak of The Indianapolis Star.

The player explained that the effects went far beyond typical discomfort and significantly impacted his daily life.

“Headaches,” Jackson said. “Fogginess. My thoughts were foggy.”

He added that the condition made even basic stimulation difficult to tolerate.

“My symptoms were severe. Light sensitivity. Sound sensitivity. I couldn’t even be around. I was bad.”

Jackson described spending most of his recovery period isolated as he tried to manage the symptoms.

“I was literally just in my room the blinds were shut. I had sunglasses on,” he said. “It was bad.”

Jackson has played 5 seasons for the Pacers. He has averaged 7.2 points and 4.5 rebounds in 194 regular-season games.
